Colleagues,

The East Asia Library at Stanford University is now accepting applications for its 2020-21 cycle of travel grants. The purpose of these grants is to assist scholars from outside the greater San Francisco Bay Area in accessing the Stanford East Asia Library collections for research. With funding provided by the Department of Education Title VI program, the Stanford Center for East Asian Studies will award a limited number of grants (of up to $750 each) on a competitive basis to help defray the cost of travel and lodging for scholars of East Asia at other institutions who wish to utilize the collections at the Stanford East Asia Library.

Applications are due by May 15, 2020.  For more information, and to submit an application, please visit:

Please note that Stanford University is currently complying with the shelter-in-place order issued by Santa Clara County due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation.  We expect to review travel grant applications and announce awards on the regular timeline.  However, no travel may be undertaken with these grants until travel restrictions have been lifted, both at Stanford and at the grantee's place of origin.

Best,
Josh
