Seeking paper proposals for a panel submission to the Annual Conference on South Asia, to be held October 15-18, 2020 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  The panel, tentatively entitled "Ideals Enacted: Transitions to Socio-Political Modernity in South Asia" intends to broadly explore how indigenous and European conceptions of history and society were re-imagined as South Asia faced indepedence from British rule.  All proposals are welcome, and we are particularly interested in papers that focus on regions of South Asia beyond contemporary Indian borders.  Prompt replies to Brian Cannon - bcannon@sas.upenn.edu - would be appreciated in light of the April 5th submission deadline.

In light of the extended submission deadline for this conference (April 26th), we continue to seek panelists whose work engages with the above theme. Please indicate your interest directly to Brian Cannon at bcannon@sas.upenn.edu.
