The University is seeking to appoint an outstanding academic leader as Professor and Head of School of Humanities to provide academic and strategic leadership in all aspects of research, research training, teaching, internationalisation and community engagement.
The School of Humanities was established in early 2013 as one of three newly merged Schools in the Faculty of Arts. The School encompasses six academic programs: Philosophy and Gender Studies, History and Classics, English, European Languages and Studies, Asian Languages and Studies and Aboriginal Studies.
Applicants will have a PhD, a demonstrated capacity for academic leadership and an outstanding record of research and teaching in one or more of the School’s disciplinary areas. Strong commitment to quality teaching and effective research training, demonstrated success in generating funding and effective relationship management skills are considered essential.
The Head of School role is fixed term for five years (renewable) and the Professorial appointment is continuing. The position is located in Hobart and travel to other campuses is required.
