Nominations invited for Presidency of SAHSA, South Asia affiliate of the AHA

The Society for Advancing the History of South Asia (SAHSA), an affiliate of the American Historical Association, is accepting nominations for a President to undertake a three-year term. SAHSA ( seeks an active scholar who is committed to research, teaching, and public engagement in the field of South Asian history. Candidates may hold an affiliation with an institution or serve as an independent scholar. Nominations are welcome from scholars of all ranks and affiliations, though the preferred candidate would demonstrate past evidence of leadership in the field. As per the by-laws of the organization, a new President is elected every three years and the current President's term ends as of December 31, 2019. The new President will assume the office on January 1, 2020 through an announcement at the 2020 AHA meetings in New York City. Duties include the management of the John F. Richards Prize roundtable, the annual CAH/SAHSA luncheon, adjudicating all South Asian history related panel proposals for the AHA, and directing new programming for the organization. The executive committee will begin to consider applications on August 1, 2019. For consideration please send a 1-page CV and a 1 page statement to regarding your vision for the organization.
