The Ethnic Studies Department at the University of California, San Diego invites applications for an open rank tenure-track or tenured appointment in Transnational Asia and Asian Diaspora Studies beginning Fall 2015 (pending budget approval). We welcome applicants from all fields and disciplines whose work conceptualizes Asia and Asian diaspora in relation to the history of colonialism and settler colonialism, imperialism, militarism and globalization. We seek to increase our expertise in transnational migration, indigeneity, religion, gender and sexuality, labor, and science or environmental studies/justice. The appointee must have a rich knowledge of the linkages between Asian nation-states/cultures, Asian or Pacific Islander Indigenous or stateless peoples and their global diasporas.
