The Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations at The University of Chicago invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor in the field of Pre-1900 Japanese Literary and Cultural Studies, including such fields as literature, intellectual and cultural history, performance studies, religious studies, and related areas preferably to begin July 1, 2018, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Review of applications will begin on November 15, 2017, and will continue until the position is filled or the search is closed; early submission is encouraged.  Position contingent upon final budgetary approval.
