The Department of East Asian Studies in the School of International Languages, Literatures and Cultures (SILLC) at the University of Arizona invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Chinese Studies. Ph.D. in hand is expected by the time of the appointment, August 2018.

We seek applicants with a specialization in the ancient period. Applicants should have solid training in early Chinese texts, thought, and language, as well as an active research agenda with the potential to attract outside funding. Areas of expertise may include early Chinese literary thought and textual traditions, paleography, etc. We are particularly interested in scholars with innovative, interdisciplinary approaches to unearthed documents, early/Classical literary theory, and pre-Buddhist thought.
