The International Studies Department at the University of San Francisco invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning in August 2018. The International Studies Department is a dynamic, interdisciplinary department that houses two programs: the Bachelor of Arts in International Studies (BAIS ) and the Master of Arts in International Studies (MAIS ). Our mission is to provide students with the theoretical and analytical tools needed to engage in a critical examination of issues facing our world within an interactive learning environment centered on holistic education for the whole person to educate global citizens.

We are seeking applications from candidates with a Ph.D. in International Studies or related social science field with a regional focus in East Asia or Southeast Asia. Preference will be given to applicants whose work centers on global politics and institutions, trade, technology, or global health. We especially welcome applications from individuals engaged in using mixed research methods and are particularly interested in candidates who emphasize community engagement and social justice in their research.
