Dear Colleagues and friends

We are very pleased to announce a meeting with leaders of the Vietnam-USA Society at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, September 4.

It will take place in New York City on the 10th floor meeting room of the Church Center for the UN, 777 UN Plaza (44th street and 1st Avenue).

Our guests are Nguyen Tam Chien, President of the Vietnam-USA Society and former ambassador to the US, and Bui Nghi, VUS Secretary General.

VUS (Hoi Viet My) traces its roots in 1945 to cooperation with members of the team from the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) who provided training and support to Ho Chi Minh and Vo Nguyen Giap in Tan Trao.  During the 1960s and 1970s, its affiliate Peace Committee was an important link to the international anti-war movement.

After the war VUS assisted US NGOs and universities to carry out programs in Vietnam.  Since normalization of relations with the US, it has supported a wide range of people to people engagement including with veterans, business groups, civic organizations, schools and former anti-war activists.

We have the room until noon.  If there is interest I will be happy to also share impressions from Cambodia after serving as an official observer for the fourth time of national elections last month.

If you plan to attend ,or for further information, please rsvp to director@ffrd.org.
