I have just received the sad news of the sudden passing of Dr Biswamoy Pati, a historian of South Asia who spent his career at the University of Delhi. Despite his heavy teaching load, he authored or edited numerous books. He was a leading historian of colonial and post-colonial Odisha (formerly called Orissa). I list a few of them below:
Resisting domination : peasants, tribals, and the national movement in Orissa, 1920-1950 (New Delhi : Manohar Publishers & Distributors, 1993.)
Situating social history : Orissa, 1800-1997 (New Delhi : Orient Longman, 2001.)
South Asia from the margins : echoes of Orissa, 1800-2000 (Manchester University Press ; New York : distributed in the United States exclusively by Palgrave Macmillan, 2012.
I hope to be able to post a longer notice of his life and work shortly.
