Call for Applications: American Councils Programming Abroad in East Asia

Dear H-NET Asia colleagues,  

Happy New Year from AC Study & Research Abroad! Wishing you, your colleagues, and students nothing but the best in 2023!  

This message serves as a friendly reminder that applications for Summer 2023 programming are due on February 15, 2023 while Fall 2023 applications are due on March 15, 2023.  

Prospective students for Summer 2023 programming are encouraged to apply for the following programs: 

  • Chungbuk National University in Cheongju, South Korea 
     

  • Taiwan Intensive Summer and Semester Language Programs   

  • National Cheng Kung University in Tainan, Taiwan (Summer)  

  • Tamkang University in Taipei, Taiwan (Summer)  

  • National Tsing Hua University in Hsinchu, Taiwan (Summer)  

  • Tamkang University in Taipei, Taiwan (Semester), beginning in Fall 2023 
     

  • Tradition and Modernity in Taiwan (Summer only)  

  • National Chengchi University in Taipei City 
      

  • Overseas Professional and Intercultural Training Program (Summer only)  

  • Internships in 19 different countries in the Balkans, Caucasus, East Asia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia  

  • Disciplines in Business and Innovation, Democracy Building and Human Rights, Ecology and Environmental Issues, Education Management, Gender and Women’s Rights, Journalism and Mass Media, Marketing and Communications, Public Health, and Social Services 
     

Language intensive program participants connect with weekend host families, meet with conversation partners for a minimum of four hours per week, and enjoy weekly excursions that provide cultural integration opportunities and support academic learning. All activities are conducted in the target language to foster greater language gains.   

Participants receive between 15 and 20 hours of instruction in small classes each week, earning 8 undergraduate/7 graduate credit hours in the summer and 16 undergraduate/15 graduate credit hours for semester programming from Bryn Mawr College upon successful completion.   

Generous financial aid is available through the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Department of Education, and several American Councils Scholarships, including the Diversity and Inclusion Scholarship and the Dan E.
