The Asian Studies Center at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking an Assistant Director for Academic Affairs.  

The Assistant Director for Academic Affairs oversees activities related to the Asian Studies Center’s Undergraduate and Graduate Certificate Programs, including advising certificate students, organizing and administering major student and faculty grant and fellowship programs, working with undergraduate and graduate student organizations, and tracking program alumni. In cooperation with the with East Asian Languages & Literatures department, the Assistant Director for Academic Affairs administers the interdisciplinary MA in East Asian Studies [IDMA]; represents the Asian Studies Center on the University Center for International Studies (UCIS) Academic Affairs Committee, as well as to other departments and professional schools. The position also assists in the administration and implementation of other relevant grants and activities as well as developing internship and exchange opportunities in Asia.

MA degree in related field required; Ph.D. preferred; Knowledge and experience related to the region including research, teaching and study abroad programs; High competence level in area language(s); in addition knowledge of other languages of the region is a plus; Experience working with undergraduate education and managing grants and fellowships; Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
