We are excited to share with you that the 2023 conference of the Western Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (WSECS) is going ahead (mark your calendars for Feb 17-18, 2023) and that we have extended the deadline for paper and panel proposals to November 15, 2022!

The established theme - "Material/Immaterial" - will remain the same, but note that the conference location has changed: we will now be gathering at California State University, Northridge. We are particularly interested in receiving proposals for presentations and panels that offer global and/or non-Eurocentric perspectives on the conference theme within the period (taken here to mean roughly 1650-1830). The Western Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (WSECS) aims to foreground global perspectives on the period to expand understanding and insight beyond the traditional Eurocentric focus; studies of colonial and postcolonial regions are encouraged, as are perspectives that reconsider what an "eighteenth century" might look like if approached from national and cultural perspectives that assume a different periodization (or reject or revise periodization as such).

In the interest of increased access and accessibility to our conference, we will offer in-person and virtual options for attendants and presenters, including robust A/V tech support for those presenting their papers in person.

Proposals for fully formed panels and individual papers are due by November 15, 2022. Please indicate whether you prefer to attend in person or virtually and send an abstract (approx. 250 words) to
