Dear colleagues,

As a member of the Medieval Academy of America 2023 Program Committee, I am writing to encourage your participation in next year's conference. The Medieval Academy of America actively seeks to bolster participation by non-Europeanists at the 2023 Annual Meeting, which will be held in Washington DC on February 23-26, 2023. The deadline to submit paper or session proposals is June 1, 2022 and while membership is required to present at the conference, it is not required to submit a proposal. There are a few co-sponsored sessions that will undoubtedly be of interest to scholars of Asia: a co-organized session with the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art, "Rethinking Global Medieval Art and Material Culture"; and another co-organized session with the American Council for Southern Asian Art, "The Mobile “Medieval” and Its Ramifications in Southern Asia." Conference themes invite reflection on cross-cultural and comparative approaches. The conference closing reception will be held at the National Museum of Asian Art.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I hope to see many of you there!

All the best,
Michelle C. Wang
