Dear H-Japan list member,
the Department of East Asian Studies – Japanese Studies at University of Vienna would like to draw your attention to the upcoming u:japan lunch lecture:
Nora Kottmann & Elisabeth Scherer
“Love in the Time of COVID-19 The ‘New Normal’ in the TV Series #rimorabu (‘Remote Love’)”
Date and time: Thursday 2021-03-11, 12:30~14:00 (CET, UTC/GMT +1h)
The Zoom Meeting will be open from 12:15 (CET).
In this virtual lecture, Nora Kottmann (German Institute for Japanese Studies, DIJ) and Elisabeth Scherer (Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, HHU) will address challenges on the production side, critically discuss depictions of a ‘new normal’ in the context of current single- and gender-discourses in Japan and show that the series ‘Remote Love’, while being extremely up-to date on the one hand, falls back on old narrative patterns on the other hand.
