Call for papers/ edited volume "Japan behind the Iron Curtain"

Please allow me to draw your attention to the following call for papers:

Japan Behind the Iron Curtain (provisional title)

Vol. 1: Translation and Literature 

Vol 2: Visual and Performing Arts

Editors Irina Holca (University of Tokyo: irina.holca@gmail.com) and George T. Sipos (West University of Timisoara/ Gannon University: gsipos@uchicago.edu) invite contributions to the volume Japan Behind the Iron Curtain to be published at West University of Timisoara Press, under the WUT's Center for East Asian Studies (CSEA) Research series.

Based partly on papers presented at the symposium "Japan: Literary and Cultural Representations in Communist Europe" that took place in October 2022, the volumes will gather research on the reception and impact of Japanese literature and arts in the former European communist space.

Potential contributors are invited to submit their interest by email to the two editors, alongside a 150-word bio and a 350-word abstract, no later than May 15, 2023. Full paper submissions are expected by July 15, 2023. The contributions should be no longer than 8000 words (footnotes included, bibliography excluded). All papers will be reviewed by the editors as well as the publisher's own reviewers.
