Membership Information

Membership form for SHGAPE

H-SHGAPE, the digital network for the Gilded Age and Progressive Era, is sponsored by H-Net (the parent of many digital networks in history and the humanities) and by SHGAPE, the Society for Historians of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era.

SHGAPE was formed in 1989 to encourage and facilitate research and teaching on the Gilded Age and Progressive Era. It is an affiliated society of the American Historical Association and regularly sponsors sessions at the AHA, OAH, and other major meetings, has an annual luncheon at the OAH, and presents a social hour at the OAH annual meeting. SHGAPE also publishes a hard-copy newsletter that comes to members via surface mail. H-SHGAPE first came on-line in mid-April 1994, following approval by the SHGAPE Council at its session during the OAH annual meeting.

To join SHGAPE, for both individual and institutional memberships, please go to our online SHGAPE Membership website, which is also the Journal of Gilded Age and Progressive Era website (membership is joint for both), directed by Cambridge University Press.

Dues are for the calendar year and include the cost of the annual subscription to the Journal of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era, the semi-annual newsletter, and announcements about SHGAPE-sponsored sessions as the AHA and the OAH. In addition, we have a variety of membership levels that range from student to lifetime, and include institutional membership.

For more information, please contact our Membership Secretary, Julia Irwin, University of South Florida.

Thank you for your interest in SHGAPE. We welcome your membership and encourage you to join SHGAPE or renew your membership via the website above. However, if you prefer to mail a hardcopy form along with a check, a printable pdf form is available on the membership website. Please make the check payable to SHGAPE and please address your membership information to: SHGAPE, c/o Wendy Gamber, Department of History, Indiana University, 1020 E. Kirkwood Ave., Bloomington, IN 47405.
