Dear H-SHGAPE Subscribers,

The SHGAPE Blog is seeking submissions for blog posts to be published in our new series on Crime and Punishment in the GAPE. We are looking for posts that broadly engage with that topic, including histories of violence (political, interpersonal, economic, etc.), legal history, the history of the US criminal justice system, and/or the history of incarceration. The goal is to run the series between April-June 2023.

The Blog publishes topics from 1865 into the 1920s and is always welcome to scholars from all walks of life, from both beginning and established scholars, and from anyone inside or outside the academy. If you have a digital project or anything beyond the traditional written blog post, we are happy to consider it! One of our favorite posts was the graphic essay by Coyote Shook, "Flu in the Artic".

If you're interested, please send a short pitch to by January 15th. We typically publish pieces between 750-1000 words. We encourage you to review our Style Guide before submitting.
