Papers from members or non-members are requested on all topics concerning the history of the United States from 1890 to the present. Individual or panel proposals are welcome (panels should have no more than three presenters in total). Topics for papers or panels might include:

Response to Hobson Review of Downs & Stewart-Winter Books

I appreciate the review of my book. While I am certainly willing to admit that I have made mistakes, readers of Emily Hobson's review would be led astray based on the following errors in her review.

First, Hobson notes that I did not include lesbian and feminist responses or analysis to the pedophilia controversy that ensued over an article that the Body Politic published in 1978.

Prize-winning essays will be offered publication in US Studies Online: the Postgraduate and Early Career Researcher Network and Blog.

I am curating a digital project on Washington, DC in 1968 to commemorate the upcoming 50th anniversary in 2018.  The purpose of the project is to move beyond the hyperfocus on "the riots" and to amplify the full range of individuals, organizations, events and ideas that made 1968 such a momentous year in DC.  It is an ambitious project!  The website will feature content (photos, text, audio, video) for each day in 2018.  

IGHS Conference Call for Papers

The International Graduate Historical Studies Conference will host “Crossing Borders, Challenging Boundaries, ” at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, March 31-April 1, 2017. We invite graduate students from across the social sciences and the humanities to submit proposals for papers or panels that adopt an interdisciplinary or transnational approach but we are also seeking papers or panels that approach historical topics in more traditional ways. All submissions must be based on original research.
