CfP--"Exploring Ethics Through Food Choices" Conference--Perugia, ITALY

Dear colleagues,

The Umbra Institute is pleased to announce the 4th edition of the biennial Perugia Food & Sustainabilty Studies Conference.

The conference is entitled "Exploring Ethics Through Food Choices". It will be held June 7th-10th, 2018, at the Umbra Institute in Perugia, Italy. Keynote Speakers include: Lisa Heldke (Gustavus Adolphus College), Michael Herzfeld (Harvard University), and John Lang (Occidental College)

Food and ethics intersect at many different levels, from personal daily choices on where to shop and what to eat to cultural norms and regulations, policy implementations on national and international scales, and debates over scientific research on biotechnology. This conference wishes to address these relationships from the perspective of food choices.

Complete panels are welcome, as are individual proposals. Interested colleagues are asked to send:
– an abstract of their proposal in English of no more than 250 words;
– three to five keywords;
– and a brief academic bio (in complete sentences, please no CVs or bullet points) of no more than 100 words to foodconference AT umbra DOT org by Friday, December 1st, 2017. Accepted proposals will be announced by January 31st, 2018.
