Upcoming online event series - Medicine for your entangled body, Medical Museion

Medical Museion is excited to present a series of free, online events as a part of our public programme for the upcoming exhibition The World is in You, opening 30 September.

This series, titled Medicine for your entangled body, explores how thinking about our bodies as intertwined with the environment is challenging and changing health care. Join us for a series of conversations between clinicians, scientists and curators about how the medicine of the future will think about health through the lens of bodily entanglements with light, microbes, inheritance, and gravity.

The science of light (ENGLISH)

26 May 2021 – 7.30PM CET.

What if the secret to better health was turning on (or off) a light?

Our bodies evolved to keep time with the daily rising and setting of the sun.  The body’s internal clocks help to regulate our biological functions – and they may hold the secret to more effective treatments for diseases. Since the Industrial Revolution, artificial light has transformed our societies. Light pollution and working at night can cause disease through disrupting the body’s natural rhythms. But might we be able to harness light to cure disease? At this event Dr. Anders Sode West and curator Kristin Hussey will explore the pasts and futures of light, rhythms and health.

Kristin Hussey, PhD, historian and researcher at Medical Museion

The dance between inheritance and environment (DANISH)

1 June 2021 – 7:30PM CET

The challenges of outer space (DANISH)

9 June 2021 – 7:30PM CET

Tarmbakterier? Og hvad kan man gøre ved det?
