Call for Papers (Journal Articles): Special Issue of Environment and History on Parks and Gardens

Karen Jones's picture

Environment and History  is looking to build on the success of its sponsored 'Parks and Gardens' panels at the European Society for Environmental History this summer in Versailles by putting together a special issue of the journal focused on park and garden history. We invite applications for papers from scholars working in any field whose work interrogates the subject of parks and gardens with a historical emphasis.  There are no chronological or geographical limitations and we are keen to include transnational or comparative histories, interdisciplinary projects, and treatments that vault the conceptual fence of traditional writings on parks and gardens. Panelists involved in the Versailles sessions are encouraged to submit written versions of their papers.  The word limit for papers is 10,000 words (including references), although prospective applicants should not be dissuaded from suggesting short 'position papers' or papers with a visual emphasis.   Those interested in contributing should contact Dr Karen Jones, Editor, in the first instance (at k.r.jones@kent.ac.uk). Deadline for final papers: December 31 2015.
