Nourish. Food & Trust. - CFP open for 18th Annual Midwest Interdisciplinary Graduate Conference
The MIGC board is pleased to announce this year's conference theme: Nourish. Food & Trust held VIRTUALLY on April 28-29, 2023. In alignment with the Center for 21st Century Studies 3-year programming arc of Nourishing Democracy and annual theme of Nourishing Trust, the conference centers on issues of food and land justice through an intersectional, interdisciplinary lens. There is no fee to submit or present. Deadline extended for proposal submissions: March 31st, 2023. We are pleased to announce this year's keynote as Suparna Kure, PhD. She is the executive director of CoFED: Cooperative Food Empowerment Directive, a QTBIPOC-led organization that partners with young folks of color to build food and land co-ops.
We invite graduate students to explore the theme of Nourish with the following guiding questions:
How do scholars across disciplines approach the connection between food and trust within the broad theme of nourish?
How do scholars approach human rights, such as access to food, in a way that fosters trust among non-academics?
How can scholars center queer and BIPOC cultural ways of knowing when approaching topics related to food and land justice?
We welcome traditional and creative submissions and works in progress in the form of a traditional conference paper, Research poster, full panel, roundtable, or workshop, five minute lightning talk (of a work in progress), and film, music, performance, or visual presentation. Deadline extended for proposal submission: March 31st, 2023.
