The 100th anniversary of the Sarajevo murders will see a major international conference at the University of Southampton (UK). 

"SARAJEVO 1914: SPARK AND IMPACT". 

This conference will explore the roots and repercussions of 'Sarajevo 1914' in the context of the Habsburg monarchy's South Slav Question.

ANN: University of Minnesota appoints permanent CAS faculty director

Acting College of Liberal Arts Interim Dean Raymond Duvall has appointed Howard Louthan, professor of history at the University of Florida, as the next permanent faculty director of the Center for Austrian Studies at the University of Minnesota. In addition to his appointment as CAS director, Louthan will be a full professor in the university’s Department of History.

CFP: Renaissance Society of America Conference, Berlin

Women Chroniclers and Historians in the Renaissance

Renaissance women, most of them nuns, wrote histories and memoirs.  This panel will explore convent chronicles and other forms of historical writing by women during the Renaissance and Early Modern Period.  In particular we hope to highlight women whose chronicles and histories pre-date the Reformation.
