Job: Visiting Assistant Professor of Modern European History - Two-Year Position 2023-2025 - Kenyon College

Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally-ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a two-year visiting assistant professor in modern European History, beginning July 1, 2023. The successful candidate will teach the Modern and Early Modern Europe survey courses, historical methods courses, as well as other courses in both modern and early modern European history, with thematic and regional focus open, including Britain, eastern Europe, and Russia.

CFP: Center for Austrian Studies Panels for the SCSC in Baltimore

The University of Minnesota's Center for Austrian Studies invites abstracts (up to 250 words) for individual papers or sessions for the Sixteenth Century Society and Conference's annual meeting to be convened in Baltimore 26-29 October 2023. Papers are encouraged from across the disciplines that focus on Central Europe broadly conceived to include all of the German-speaking lands, Poland, as well as all the areas historically connected with the Habsburg Monarchy. The deadline for abstracts is April 12, 2023.

CFA: Konrad Jarausch Essay Prize for Advanced Graduate Students in Central European History (Deadline 1 May 2023)

On behalf of the North Carolina German Studies Seminar, I am proud to announce the fifth annual Konrad Jarausch Essay Prize for Advanced Graduate Students in Central European History. We invite any doctoral candidate at a North American university to submit an article or dissertation chapter. A committee will select a winner, who will be given a $1000 honorarium and the opportunity to present his or her work to our vibrant seminar. Full details can be found here.

PRIZE: Annelise Thimme Article Prize of the Central European History Society

 

The Central European History Society (CEHS) solicits nominations for the biennial Annelise Thimme Article Prize. This prize recognizes the best English-language article or essay on Central European history written by a North American scholar. This year’s competition is for works published in 2021 or 2022. Nominations can be made by authors, editors, presses, or third parties.

PRIZE: Hans Rosenberg Book Prize of the Central European History Society

The Central European History Society (CEHS) is pleased to solicit nominations for the Hans Rosenberg Book Prize. This annual prize honors the best monograph in Central European history published in English by a North American scholar. This year’s award is restricted to books with an imprint of 2022. "Central European history" is understood to include all German-speaking countries as well as areas previously included within the Habsburg monarchy.
