World Cup on H-Net

H-Net Vice President of Networks Caroline Waldron (Term Jan '22-Dec '24) Discussion

We are happy to introduce the Commons Crossroads, a new kind of network for content delivered from all H-Net Networks around a single topic, representing the intersection of scholarship and thinking from across our many fields. Our first multi-network topic: The World Cup!

Contributions will all be collected and available for perusal on the new World Cup 2014 network. The network is open for anyone to read, so you don't need to join it (but you can if you want notifications or want to post directly to it).

Subscribers to H-Peace are invited to submit anything on the World Cup, soccer, and the sporting life in general that might also pertain to this network. This might include contributions to a bibliography on sport, musings on international athletics, original essays on the World Cup or links to old ones, commentary on the event as it advances, musings on soccer and peace, images... Send it all here and the editors will see it gets to the World Cup 2014 site.

The World Cup Crossroads is being headed up by editors of H-PCAACAH-Nationalism, and H-Sport under the aegis of the H-Net Editorial Affairs Committee, with an eye toward future similar endeavors. (Speculative advance notice: there's a US election in November, and the 100th anniversary of World War I is nigh--start thinking about politics and war!)

Patrick Cox, H-NET VP for Networks and Interim Editor of H-Peace.
