  •  Primary or secondary immigration from French Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean
  • Role of legislation in promoting/restricting immigration (Immigration Act of 1924; Displaced Persons Act of 1948; Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965)
  • Maintenance of faith among immigrants and immigrant communities
  • Reception of newer immigrants by older immigrants or “assimilated” Catholics
  •  Efforts at assimilation/Americanization by or for immigrants
  •  Immigration of clergy/members of religious orders to establish foundations in the U.S./serve immigrant populations
  •  Religious devotions particular to national or regional immigrant groups
  • Immigration and settlement patterns and networks
  • Nativism and suspicion of the foreign born
