Diálogos is an interdisciplinary conference hosted by the Graduate Student Advisory Committee of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at Indiana University, Bloomington. We invite original graduate-student research in the fields of Hispanic and Lusophone linguistics, literatures, and culture. Submissions and presentations may be in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Catalan.
In the field of Hispanic and Lusophone linguistics, Diálogos welcomes papers and presentations on a variety of topics including (but not limited to) linguistic variation, dialectology, language acquisition, pragmatics, semantics, phonology, syntax, bilingualism, historical and comparative linguistics, and language contact. In the field of Hispanic and Lusophone literatures and culture, Diálogos welcomes papers and presentations on a variety of topics including (but not limited to) literary, political, and cultural theory, biopolitics, religion, film, gender studies and indigenous and first-peoples studies, as well as Trans-Atlantic, African, Peninsular, and Latin American perspectives.
We will have two keynote speakers at this year's conference, Dr. Erin Graff Zivin of the University of Southern California, and Dr. Joan Bybee of the University of New Mexico.
