I'm interested in putting together a panel examining the social justice efforts of African American professionals during the Jim Crow period for the 2021 OAH convention in Chicago, which centers on the themes of democracy and inequality in America. The deadline for panel submissions falls on February 2nd of this year.
I envision this panel could include a wide range of scholars who deal with one or a combination of the following groups or topics:
- Black professionals (including social workers, scholars, health care providers, teachers, lawyers)
- Black women involved in racial advancement organizations
- Intraracial class dynamics in black communities
- The intersectionality of race, gender, and class
- Black reformers involved in the Urban League, NAACP, or the black press
- Racial uplift ideology
If you have interest in participating in this panel, or have more questions about it, please contact me at the email address provided.
Best,
