CFP: TSA 2018 Panel on slavery and nationalism in the American South

I’m looking for a final speaker for a panel of PhD students/early-career scholars on the theme of ‘Slavery, abolition, and nationalism in the nineteenth century: The American South in comparative perspective’ for the Transatlantic Studies Association Conference (University of North Georgia, Dahlonega, Georgia, USA, 9-11 July 2018). The panel addresses the following themes:

Conference: Cross-cultural transformations in the Atlantic World (16th-19th centuries)

The principal aim of the conference is to overcome a Eurocentric approach to Atlantic history that considers it as a mere history of the Europeans overseas empires. Instead, the focus of the debate will be on the active role played by Native Americans and Africans in shaping transformations of the period.

Upcoming conference: "Entangled Histories: Making New Connections in Early America," April 5-7, 2018

Entangled Histories: Making New Connections in Early America, c. 1750-1850

April 5-7, 2018, Philadelphia, PA

The McNeil Center for Early American Studies invites you to a special conference on entanglements in America and the Atlantic world.
