We are looking for a moderator/commentator for our panel for the PCCBS at Riverside, March 24-26, 2023. The panel will consist of three papers, all of which explore the impact of the American Revolution on British and French thinking about the appropriate use of state power. The first paper will comment on British opposition to commodity taxation in Britain during the American Revolution, the second, on holding the British government accountable for government spending in the 1780s, and the third, on Francois-Jean de Chastelloux's reflections on reforming the French system of taxation in 1780s France. Panel proposals are due on Dec. 16.
