NPR featured and interview with Matthew Restall and his new book on Moteuczoma as part of a reevaluation of the conquest of Mexico.
Restall is part of a group of schoalrs looking into how the conquest of Mexico has been characterized and what new revelations we have about the Spanish invasion based on recent research. We have organized panels at RMCLAS, Ethnohistory, the American Historical Association meeting and this coming fall in Paris at the meeting of the European Latin American Historians (AHILA). Barbara Mundy and I have organized a special conference this spring at Yale to address some of these issues.
Transcripts of the conversations are vailable on request.
