The UVA Law Library has just released The Charlottesville Statues Legal History Research Guide, a new web resource for those interested in the history and legal debates surrounding Charlottesville’s Robert E. Lee and Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson statues.  In addition to a fully digitized collection of docket files from the ongoing court case, Payne v. City of Charlottesvillethe guide aggregates research materials, including deeds, City Council minutes, digitized texts, and archival collections, that will interest historians of law, Confederate memory, and state/local politics.

These resources will be updated as new litigation documents are filed and as we continue to digitize municipal records (including City Council minutes from the 1910s and the 1920s)
