Seeking addional essays for an edited collection examining the representation of domestic or imtimate violence in literature and/or law in the long 18th century. Before the term "domestic violence" was coined, there were behaviors, ways of speaking, issues of control, legal categories, economic conditions and occupational relationships that today would constitute domestic violence. The essays I am seeking will consider early ways of representing, thinking, and talking about physical, emotional, or sexual violence within the domestic setting. Essays that focus on France, Portugal, Italy, or Scandinavia are especially welcome.  500-word abstracts by July 25, 2015; completed essays due by August 20, 2016. Electronic submissions only.
