Founded in 1886, the Scottish History Society is a leading publisher of original sources relating to the history of Scotland. We have produced over 170 volumes, with many of our older scholarly editions now digitised by the National Library of Scotland and available free to read online

You can join the Scottish History Society and help to support our important publishing activities from as little as £25. The benefits of membership include;

  • a free hard copy of our annual volume (RRP £40 + P&P)
  • invitations to our events, including our AGM, Presidential Lecture and other occasional lectures
  • Publications Workshops.

There are two categories of membership. By joining as a Member you are helping to fund the publication of our volumes. By joining as a Friend you are also helping to fund events and the two prizes we offer annually to postgraduate/early career researchers, supporting the discipline into the future. We plan to publish a list of Friends on the website and in the annual volumes (except where individuals choose to opt out).

Find out more about joining the Scottish History Society, as either a Friend or Member, by taking a look at our website. You can also contact our Membership Secretary Dr Laura Doak at ldoak001@dundee.ac.uk
