OHA 2022 -- Looking for Co-Panelists for "Persistence and Perseverance: Disrupting Social Barriers in Urban Neighborhoods"

I am interested in putting together a panel (or roundtable) for the Oral History Association's conference, which will be held at the Biltmore in downtown LA, Oct 19-22, 2022. The panel is tentatively titled "Persistence and Perseverance: Disrupting Social Barriers in Urban Neighborhoods" and should fit well with the overall conference theme. Urban neighborhoods have been persistent pockets of social turmoil during the last century, and I envision the panel addressing the ways that oral history can capture different approaches that individuals, families, or organizations have used to navigate the race, gender, class, language, or other barriers that too often keep people in poverty. My own work focuses on a Catholic foundation which supports interventions in urban neighborhoods through schools, community centers, or social services in California. Other panelists could approach these questions through the views of a family, immigrant group, labor organization, church, or community organization. Panelists could discuss different types of interventions, community responses to these efforts, and their effectiveness (or lack thereof). Comparing different geographic regions could also prove useful.
