The Voces Oral History Research Summer Institute is a 5-day workshop (June 10–14) for all faculty and graduate students wishing to use oral history in research.
The 2018 Institute netted rave reviews. This is what participants had to say:
“This was a phenomenal institute! I appreciate all the work that went into preparing and executing this program to make it a valuable experience for me and others. Todd and Maggie did an excellent job introducing us to the methodology, and the other presenters filled in nicely… Thank you to everyone involved!”
“I loved this group. It was very helpful for me to troubleshoot my project with a mix of veterans and newcomers to the process.”
“My thoughts on oral history have completely evolved since taking part in this institute. I have a much deeper appreciation for this practice.”
“This. Week. Was. Fantastic.”
“I feel confident that I can proceed and enact best practices in my methodology and adequately call myself an oral historian if I am practicing that methodology.”
“I am taking away valuable knowledge of the practice of oral history. I am excited to continue working on my project and I have new ideas about future projects. I have already been telling others about this project and how much I have learned. Maggie and Todd did an excellent job of creating a rich experience. If you decide to create a series of advanced workshops for those of us who have taken part in this institute (sort of a revisiting best practices and seeing what people did with the knowledge)--I will be there!
