The Oral History Center is hosting the annual Advanced Oral History Summer Institute next month. This year, we're implementing a workshop about interviewing across difference. While I'm aware of several articles, both related to oral history and not, I'm interested in pooling the larger OH community to see what you resources, methods, or advice you seek out when interviewing someone who is not in the same community.
Are there any articles that you've read that help map strategies for understanding implicit bias, fostering more effective cultural communication, or real life examples? Are there any resources that discuss empathy well? Are there any people or experts that you consult before heading out into the field?
Thanks so much!
