2. Documentary Filmmaking Production on Saturday April 7, 10 - 4 is an introduction to filming interviews, recording professional-quality audio, using a variety of camera techniques, gathering b-roll, doing archival research, and shooting to edit. You’ll practice those techniques and become familiar with equipment available for film production.
3. Documentary Filmmaking Post-production on Sunday, April 8, 11-5 covers logging interviews, making editing choices, using b-roll, and becoming familiar with editing software. We’ll watch and discuss clips as well as practice editing techniques.
Oral History: An Introduction.
Oral History: An Introduction combines discussion of the theories and methods that inform oral history research with practical, hands-on training in oral history interview techniques. The class begins with a demonstration interview followed by group discussion of the interview process. Attendees will then work as teams to conduct interviews using provided digital audio recording equipment. The day concludes with reflection on interviewing and a discussion of project ideas.
Oral History: An Introduction will be offered twice in April:
April 13 in Middlebury 10 - 4
April 21 at the Saint Albans Museum, Saint Albans, Vermont 10 - 4
