The Disruption Dialogues
This summer, we invite those in the arts, education, and/or the global working class to participate in a creative oral history learning opportunity.
The Disruption Dialogues is a multiday workshop that will use oral history remix as a new genre of public art to listen across difference. Participating in The Dialogues does not require any experience with oral history or digital technology.
FACILITATORS: Lisa Arrastia, PhD, an assistant professor of education at MCLA. Lisa is also the Founding Director of The Ed Factory and a designer of the Young People's Archive at East Side Freedom Library. Co-facilitators will be MCLA alumni who are teachers and artists trained in what Lisa calls "audioethnography or oral history remix, which is an approach to listening across difference as a way to listen to understand others."
VISITING COLLABORATORS: NYU's Claudia Rankine, PEN America’s Worker Writer School, Yale's Roderick Ferguson, San Francisco Poet Laureate Tongo Eisen-Martin, and others.
DATES: This is a synchronous-remote, multiday workshop that culminates in a synchronous-remote, public event featuring the work of Disruption participants.
