Congratulations to SHERA member Dr. Jane A. Sharp, Professor of Art History and Research Curator for Soviet Nonconformist Art, Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers University. Her book, Thinking Pictures: The Visual Field of Moscow Conceptualism (New Brunswick, NJ: Zimmerli Art Museum, Rutgers, 2016), is a finalist for the 2017 Alfred H. Barr Jr. Award for Smaller Museums, Libraries, Collections, and Exhibitions, awarded annually by the College Art Association. CAA established the Alfred H. Barr Jr. Award for Smaller Museums, Libraries, Collections, and Exhibitions in 2009 to recognize institutions and collections with an annual operating budget of less than $10 million. The catalogue accompanied an exhibition open at the Zimmerli Museum from September 6 to December 31, 2016 and includes essays by scholars [and SHERA members] Adrian Barr, Sabine Hänsgen, Matthew Jesse Jackson, Yelena Kalinsky, and Terry Smith. The presentation of the 2018 Awards for Distinction, including the Barr Award, will take place on Wednesday evening, February 21, 6:00–7:30 PM, at the LA Convention Center in Los Angeles.
