Call for Papers: SAH 2020 Seattle

The Society of Architectural Historians is now accepting abstracts for its 73rd Annual International Conference in Seattle, Washington, April 29–May 3. Please submit an abstract by 11:59 p.m. CDT on June 5, 2019, to one of the 33 thematic sessions, the Graduate Student Lightning Talks or the Open Sessions.

SAH Hires Humanities Research Analyst

SAH has hired Dr. Sarah M. Dreller as its Humanities Research Analyst, a newly created position supported by the Mellon Foundation. Dr. Dreller will be charged with collecting data to help SAH and the Mellon Foundation understand the current status of architectural history in U.S. higher education.

Day Rates: SAH 2019 Providence

Day passes for the SAH 2019 Annual International Conference in Providence (April 24–28) will be available for online purchase beginning April 12. Day passes are limited to one per person and are valid for either Thursday, April 25, or Friday, April 26.

Call for Participation: SAH Committees

SAH seeks members to serve on one of our many committees that award fellowships and publication and film awards. The submission deadline is Monday, May 6.

SAHARA Highlights: Tourism

This month’s images from SAHARA focus on sites of secular pilgrimage throughout the world. These may be amusement parks or zoos or heritage sites but they all make a determined effort to attract and accommodate visitors at a large scale.

 

NEH Awards Grants to Support Projects in Architectural History

On March 28, 2019, the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) announced $28.6 million in grants for 233 humanities projects across the country, which included $794,447 in support for architectural history projects.
