Thanks to a generous donation from an anonymous donor, the Society is pleased to announce the SHERA Graduate Student / Independent Scholar Travel Grant of up to $1,000 for local travel and up to $1,500 for international travel to one member presenting a paper at the ASEEES Annual Convention in San Francisco from Saturday, November 23 to Tuesday, November 26, 2019.

Beginning in 2019, SHERA is excited to announce the SHERA Graduate Student / Independent Scholar Research Grant in the amount of $500. This grant will be awarded to one member for research and/or study toward the completion of a thesis, dissertation, or publication. The grant could be used toward the cost of research travel or accommodations, the acquisition of image rights for publication, language study, and other related activities.
I want to extend the invitation to the opening of the new exhibition, Paste, Stick, Glue: Constructing Collage in Russia, which will be held on Monday, 4 March, from 5pm to 6:30pm at the Gallery in Amherst Center for Russian Culture, Webster Hall, Amherst College, MA.

Just a note regarding a CAA panel that might be of interest to this network. The panel, "The Spectacle in Art from the Panorama to the Infinity Room" examines the relationship between visual art and the concept of "spectacle" specifically as it was defined by Guy Debord. I will give a paper entitled "Monumental Art Against Concentrated Spectacle: Soviet Murals as Catalysts for Collectivist Politics, 1928-1968". Date, time, and location are as follows:
