CFP: Association for Gravestone Studies Virtual 43rd Annual Conference due April 15, 2021

The Association for Gravestone Studies requests scholarly paper submissions for its virtual annual conference, June 18-27, 2021.  Research on all aspects of the study of gravestones, cemeteries, or closely related topics is eligible:  preservation and management issues, carver studies, marker styles and motifs, interpretative programming, burial practices, historic surveys, cemetery histories, etc.  Previous presenters have come from art, art history, architecture, folklore, conservation, genealogy, anthropology, historic preservation, popular culture, and other allied fields.   This conference is an opportunity to have extended conversations with conservators, cemetery managers, historians, advocates, preservationists, and academics from around the world who practice, research, and promote gravestone studies. 

Please submit the application form, a 500-word abstract (for papers) or a 250-word abstract (for late nights), and a 250-word resume summary to AGSConfProposals@gmail.com by April 15, 2021.   The proposal form and additional information is available on the Association for Gravestone Studies website at www.gravestonestudies.org/conferences/annual-conference.  The preliminary conference schedule and registration will be available by May 1, 2021; presenters are required to register and submit their recorded papers by June 1st.  Graduate students are invited to apply for the Student Scholarship Award - for more information visit www.gravestonestudies.org.  We have moved to an online format for 2021, but hope to return face-to-face in 2022.
