History: Assistant professor, tenure-track, starting Fall 2022.

Required:  PhD by August 2022.  Specialization in modern Latin America (1700-present) with preferred emphasis on social history, economic history, borderlands, and/or public history.  In addition to developing and teaching upper-level Latin American history courses, the successful candidate will teach US survey courses each semester as part of the university’s core curriculum.  The candidate may also teach the second half of World Civilization.  Must have teaching experience, including the ability to teach in-person and online.

Teaching load: 4/4 with the possibility of summer and minimester instruction.

Long-term job success requires commitment to teaching excellence as well as a strong record of research and publication, engagement in scholarly activities, and service to department, college, and university. 

MSU, a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC), offers a minor, BA, and MA in history.  Home to a large first-generation population and diverse student body, MSU is on the verge of becoming a Hispanic Serving Institution with 21% of its students currently identifying as Hispanic.  The school is located in Wichita Falls, a city of 104,000, two hours from Dallas/Fort Worth and Oklahoma City.
