Dear Colleagues:

I’m pleased to announce that my new book, Placing Empire: Travel and the Social Imagination in Imperial Japan, is now available. Published by the University of California Press, it explores the spatial politics of empire through a study of Japanese tourism to Korea, Manchuria, and Taiwan from the late nineteenth century to the 1950s.

Placing Empire is available as a paperback at ucpress.edu or amazon.com; or as a free, Open Access ebook at luminosoa.org.

Please let me know if you’d like more information or have any questions.

Sincerely,

Kate McDonald
