It is a great pleasure to announce that National Museum of Ethnology (Japan) hosts a symposium ‘Tracing the “Gyres” of the Indian Ocean World: Towards New Horizons of the Indian Ocean World Studies’ on 21 and 22 January 2023. It will be the initial international symposium organised to initiate a 6-year program by the Indian Ocean World Studies Project (INDOWS), Global Area Studies Program (2022-2028) supported financially by National Institutes for the Humanities (NIHU).
Four sessions (materials, people, cultural phenomena, and ideas and faiths) traces various flows or gyres to rediscovery the Indian Ocean "World". For more details and time tables, please see flyer and abstracts.
This symposium is held face-to-face and online. Registration is required. REgistration will be closed on 11 January.
