The American Social History Project/Center for Media and Learning at The Graduate Center CUNY is looking for experienced educators to act as small group facilitators for a virtual NEH Summer Institute, LGBTQ+ Histories of the United States, July 11-22, 2022.
Designed for middle and high school educators, LGBTQ+ Histories of the United States will introduce the rich body of recent scholarship covering the span of U.S. history, from early America to the 1990s, that incorporates LGBTQ+ stories, and identifies the pedagogical strategies and materials appropriate for exploring LGBTQ+ history. The small group facilitator will work on the instructional sections of the institute called “workshops,” where teachers will engage in pedagogical approaches to integrating LGBTQ+ history in the classroom. Facilitators are asked to ensure that teachers understand the activities, propose and answer any small questions they may ask, keep them on track time wise, and act as a mediator between the group and our team. Facilitators are expected to attend a pre- and post-institute meeting, and hold full-time attendance at the institute. We are offering compensation of $2,000.00.
If you are interested in being a facilitator, please send an email introducing yourself and your experience with leading professional development and/or curriculum development projects, with a copy of your resume to: Dr. Peter Mabli, Director of Online Programs, at PMabli@gc.cuny.edu. We are accepting applications through Friday, May 13th.
