St. Joseph's University, David H. Burton Postdoctoral Fellowship
Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia invites applications for the David H. Burton Postdoctoral Fellowship in history, a teaching and research position honoring Dr. Burton, a model teacher-scholar at SJU for over fifty years. The Burton Fellowship is a one-year appointment at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor of History, beginning Fall 2016 with potential renewal for up to two additional years.
This year, we invite applications from candidates specializing in post-1500 Europe (including Britain, but excluding Russia) and the Middle East with a research emphasis on empire or migration. The successful candidate will be able to teach upper–level courses on aspects of the histories of both Europe and the Middle East.
The Fellow will have a 2/2 teaching load, including Forging the Modern World, which is a comparative and methodological survey course, and upper-level courses in the Fellow's specialty.
Dedicated funding will be available for research support; the Fellow will offer an annual public lecture and an annual faculty workshop on pedagogical methods or his/her research.
The successful applicant will have Ph.D. in hand by May of 2016, and will have received it no earlier than 2011.
Interested persons must apply on-line at https://jobs.sju.edu. Complete applications should include cover letter, CV, a writing sample, and contact information for three reference letter providers (*).
*During the application process you will be asked for the name and email address of three professional references. When you submit your application, the system will send automatic notification to your references' email addresses with a link for them to securely upload a letter of reference.
