Angelo State University, History, Assistant Professor of European History

The History Department at Angelo State University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of assistant professor in European History to begin August 2016. Specialization is open with a preference for Medieval or Early Modern eras. The successful candidate must have the ability to teach broadly in European History. An additional regional subfield is desirable. Normal course load will include classes in the faculty member's area of specialization, as well as both halves of the Western Civilization survey.

The successful candidate is expected to be devoted to quality teaching with clear, high standards, and to be an active member of Angelo State's academic community. A tenure-track assistant professor of history is expected to teach four courses a semester. This will typically be three sections of the Western Civilization survey (both halves) and one advanced course. Successful candidate may occasionally be required to teach a section of the U.S. History survey. Tenure track faculty are also expected to be engaged professionally, with their disciplines and provide service to the university.   

Angelo State University is part of the Texas Tech University system. It is a federally designated Hispanic Servicing Institution. We are located in the heart of West Texas in the town of San Angelo.
